TEXAS TEST PRACTICE

🧭 Check your compass

Try 12 mixed questions across numbers, operations, geometry, data and money. Answers and explanations appear at the end. Pause and come back whenever you like.

Original practice questions · Not an official STAAR or NWEA assessment · No timer

CREATIVE THINKING LAB

🏰 One fence. Many castles.

You have 24 metres of fence. Build rectangles with different whole-number side lengths. Which one holds the most square tiles?

Explain to a grown-up: why does the area change when the fence stays the same?

GEOMETRY WORKSHOP

📐 Draw an angle

Choose an angle and build it on the protractor. Try 30°, 90° and 150°. Which is acute, right or obtuse? Draw your own on paper, then compare.

🌱 Grown-up learning guide & progress

Start with the six-question scouting mission, then use short sessions a few times a week. Ask “How do you know?” and “Can you solve it another way?” All grades stay open so advanced learners can stretch by topic.

How the learning works

Six independent correct answers among the last eight, across at least two dates, earns a skill star. Hints and corrections are useful practice; they do not count as independent mastery. Reviews return after 1, 3 or 7 days, depending on recent success. These thresholds are our design choices, not a standardized assessment or school grade.

Each completed new question earns 3 Noor, up to 45 per day. Reopening a completed question cannot earn it again. Practice continues after the daily bonus. Progress stays in this browser with backup copies; use a backup to move devices.

Texas & SST assessment guide

SST publishes TEKS-based academics. Its 2025–26 family guidance lists NWEA, local assessments and released STAAR questions. Campus test schedules and private classroom questions can vary. Grade 2 has foundation practice here; STAAR maths begins in grade 3.

The mixed checks use original questions and sample all five strands. They are short learning checks, not full-length replicas, score predictions or a RIT assessment. For the actual test interface and released questions, use the official Texas practice site. See TEA’s grade 3 assessed curriculum and grade 4 assessed curriculum.

Research behind the design

Selected topics follow Texas maths TEKS, grades 2–4; the topic map below shows the standards addressed by each practice area. Teacher-led explanations, hands-on drawing and classroom assessments remain important. Visual models, worked explanations, retrieval and spaced review are informed by the IES learning practice guide. Open access to stretch work and preassessment are informed by UConn’s curriculum compacting research. The website itself has not been evaluated in those studies. Use the progress report alongside classroom feedback.
